Fill out this form to enter your bid for one of the 49 double chairs from the historic Barrows Chairlift. The lift has served the ski hill since 1988. The vintage double chair is being removed to make room for a state-of-the-art lift.  

A new era begins when a $3 million Skytrac triple chairlift is installed in 2021/2022 through a partnership with The VF Foundation, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and the City of Steamboat Springs.

General Information / Instructions

  • If you would like to submit a sealed bid for one of the retired Barrows lift chairs, you may do so by clicking on the link or bid button above and filling out the required form. Make sure the form is filled out in its entirety and that your bid amount is included. 
  • Bids open beginning on Monday, March 8, 2021. Bids submitted prior to this date will not be considered. 
  • Bidding will close at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Bids submitted after this date will not be considered. 
  • Minimum bid for each chair is set at $150 (fair market value as outlined by Superior Tramway). 
  • Top 49 bids will be contacted on Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19. At this time, payment information will be collected and chair pick-up details will be provided. 
  • Please Note: All sales are subject to 8.4% sales tax, which will be applied at the time of payment. 
  • Chair pick-up will take place the week of March 22 - March 26 (exact schedule TBD).

Benefits Howelsen Hill Endowment Fund

All proceeds from the sale of the chairs will benefit the Howelsen Hill Ski Area Endowment Fund held at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation. Any amount paid over the bid minimum of $150 is eligible as a tax deductible donation and winning bidders will receive a donor acknowledgement letter for tax purposes.
