Fire Districts
Fire Protection in Routt County consists of several entities:
- City of Steamboat Springs/Steamboat Rural Fire Protection District
- North Routt Fire Protection District
- West Routt Fire Protection District
- Oak Creek Fire Protection District
- Yampa Fire Protection District

The areas not in a fire district consist mostly of US Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management land; and, therfore, wildland fire protection is their responsibility.
