The City of Steamboat Springs has inventory information on over 350 structures in the old town residential and commercial area of our community.

Inventory information is the basis on which the City's preservation program operates. Historic Preservation staff uses this inventory information as the basis for providing information to the Historic Preservation Advisory Commission. This information is critical to the Preservation Commission as a means of establishing the historical significance of a property. Inventories provide information that is valuable to staff during administrative review when determining whether a proposed project impacts an historic property or neighborhood.

In addition, a property inventory is integral in determining a property's potential eligibility for local landmarking and the
financial incentives / benefits that this designation affords, but also it provides the context for introducing a property owner to the City’s preservation program, the benefits of preservation, incentives for preservation, and the City’s design guidelines.

As accurate information regarding these properties is constantly changing, please be aware that some information may be outdated. Hard copies of the forms and additional photos are kept at the City's Historic Preservation office located in the Planning Department in Centennial Hall.
