**Applications are now being accepted for the position Part-time Firefighter/EMT.**

Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue is a combination fire department with Full-Time, and Part-Time, Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics serving the citizens of Steamboat Springs and the surrounding Rural Fire Protection District.


Successful applicants will start employment as a trainee in the SSFR Fire Academy and will be scheduled for 2-3 nine (9) hour shifts per week. Once the trainee completes the academy and obtains both Colorado Firefighter 1 Certification and Colorado EMT Certification, they will become a regular part-time Firefighter/EMT and be scheduled for approximately 10 shifts per month based on availability and need.


TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR EMPLOYMENT, CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Must be 21 years of age.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legally eligible to work in the USA.
  4. Must possess a valid driver's license without record of suspension or revocation or obtain a Colorado State Driver’s license within one month of hire date.
  5. No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
  6. Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
  7. Candidates with Colorado EMT certificate will be given preference.
