To provide the youth of the Yampa Valley
an opportunity to earn while they learn
by contributing to community improvement projects.

2014 Community Youth Corps 
Information & Descriptions
  
What does the CYC provide?
The CYC provides on the job training, environmental education, uniforms and safety gear, transportation to the workplace, first aid, and equipment and food during camping trips.

Crew Structure
Crews consist of one adult crew leader, one adult assistant crew leader and eight Corps members, ages 14 to 16 years old.

Work Projects
Projects include various tasks such as trail construction and maintenance, weeding, planting, painting, fencing, reclamation, flood prevention, park cleanup, and various other jobs.

 Session 1: June 2 - June 13  Session 6: July 7 - July 18
 Session 2: June 9 - June 20  Session 7: July 14 - July 25
 Session 3: June 16 - June 27  Session 8: July 21 - August 1
 Session 4: June 23 - July 3*  Session 9: July 28 - August 8
 Session 5: June 30 - July 11  Session 10: August 4 - August 15

*Due to the 4th of July Holiday Session 4 Camping week is Sunday, June 29 - July 3, no work July 4

Pay
  • $8.00 per hour
  • Approximately $416 per session before taxes

Forest Service, White River National Forest, 
Yampa Valley Sustainability Council, ReTree Steamboat, and
Rocky Mountain National Park are sponsors of work projects.

Once you have submitted a completed application please contact Lauren Lastrina, CYC Field Coordinator to schedule an interview.

  • Tuesday, May 6th: 4:00pm, 5:00pm and 6:00pm
  • Wednesday, May 7th: 4:00pm, 5:00pm and 6:00pm
  • Thursday, May 8th: 4:00pm, 5:00pm and 6:00pm
