Simple physics. If we were to lift the wing at everyone's driveway, the snow would just be left in the streets and become a nuisance to parking and the driving lanes. The streets would get narrower as the winter progressed and no one would be able to travel a month into winter. The snow is pushed back as far as possible to keep the streets wide for all travel and limited day parking where possible. We understand this is an invonvenience to everyone, but our winter operation is one of the best in the state, plowing all of our streets within a 12 hour period and never having a snow day at school because of our snowplowing operation.
