Donovan Rypkema to Speak in Steamboat Springs on July 23rd

The City of Steamboat Springs is bringing prominent speaker Donovan Rypkema to Steamboat Springs to speak on the importance of Historic Preservation. Rypkema is principal of PlaceEconomics, a Washington, D.C.-based real estate and economic development-consulting firm which specializes in downtown and commercial district revitalization and reuse of historic structures. He is the author of several publications including The Economics of Historic Preservation and the Feasibility Assessment Manual for Reusing Historic Buildings.

The City was awarded a Certified Local Government (CLG) grant from the Colorado Historical Society to bring Mr. Rypkema to Steamboat Springs. He has traveled internationally speaking on issues of community revitalization, sustainable development, affordable housing and the economic benefits of historic preservation.

Mr. Rypkema will be speaking two times in Centennial Hall on July 23rd – at 12:00 Noon and 5:00 P.M during the Planning Commission Meeting. Both times are open and free to the public.
