The Union Pacific has notified the City of Steamboat Springs that they will begin work on an
active signal installation at the railroad crossing into the Fish Creek Mobile Home Park. The
new signal will include moving gates and lights. It its likely that construction on the signals will begin Tuesday, June 30th, 2009. The Union Pacific hopes to be done with the signal work
within two weeks of beginning work. Later in the year, the railroad company will also replace
the wooden crossing platform with a new concrete crossing. The Union Pacific Railroad has
separate crews and divisions for the different types of construction and maintenance.
Access to residences will be maintained throughout the project; however, there is a possibility
for delays and we request that all plan accordingly. All involved parties apologize in advance
for any inconveniences associated with this construction, but hopes that the end result will be
an improved crossing condition, especially in the winter months.
