Heather Sloop was elected to her second term on City Council representing District III in 2019. In November 2021, she was elected as President Pro Tem.
Her focus on government service is not limited to the city having served Routt County as a senior engineer for a decade and deputy coroner for two and half years. During this time, she has built relationships among community residents, the business sector and government entities.
Over her career, Sloop has focused on civil engineering pursuits as well as cultivated expertise in community and regulatory affairs in the energy arena, with a concentration in these areas for Quicksilver Resources, Inc. and Southwestern Energy. Alongside of her husband, she has worked at their family business, Sloop Painting, for more than 15 years.
Outside of council, Heather is passionate about her community and services in various capacities for a variety of organizations. In addition, she donates significant time and energy to the Girl Scouts of America, which her daughter is a member.
With her husband, Peter, and two children, Vivian and Otto, Steamboat Springs has been called home since 2001.
