Summer Programs

The City of Steamboat Springs offers several options for kids and families through the summer. The activities of each camp are designed to challenge the level of each age group. On trip days, staff target skills for the safe enjoyment of outdoor adventures in the Rocky Mountains.

NEW for 2023: We heard your concerns and feedback and will be changing over to Summer Camp registration by the week.  There will be no summer camp offered on Fridays.

2023 Summer Camp

  • Online registration is now closed.  If you are still interested in enrolling your child(ren) for summer camp, please contact Ashley Steed: asteed@steamboatsprings.net to inquire about openings.
  • Daily Schedule:
    • 8:00AM-9:30AM - Free Play
    • 9:30AM - Snack
    • 10:00AM-12:00PM - Mini Camps
    • 1:00PM-4:00PM - Off Site Activity
      • Please note that off site activities that are over 30 minutes out of town will depart at 11:00AM.
    • 4:15PM - Snack
    • 4:30PM-5:30PM - Pick Up & Free Play

Adventurers Summer Camp

  • Open To: Kids Entering Kindergarten Only (Must Be 5 Years Old By Oct 1, 2023 AND enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year.)
  • Location: Upstairs at Howelsen Ice Arena
  • Dates: June 12 - August 10
    • No camp will be offered:
      • June 5-8
      • June 19
      • July 3-4
      • August 14-17
  • Times: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Availability: Dependent on staffing levels

Explorers Summer Camp

  • Open To: 1st - 2nd Graders
  • Location: Soda Creek Elementary
  • Dates: June 12 - August 10
    • No camp will be offered:
      • June 5-8
      • June 19
      • July 3-4
      • August 14-17
  • Times: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Availability: Dependent on staffing levels

Mountaineers Summer Camp

  • Open To: 3rd - 5th Graders
  • Location: Soda Creek Elementary
  • Dates: June 12 - August 10

  • Times: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM

  • June 20 - June 22 (no camp on June 19): $150

  • July 5 - July 6 (no camp on July 3 & July 4): $100
  • July 10 - July 13: $200
  • July 17 - July 20: $200
  • July 24 - July 27: $200
  • July 31 - August 3: $200
  • August 7 - August 10: $200

A.S.S.E.T Camps 2023

A.S.S.E.T Camps will only be available for for children entering 3rd - 5th grade.

  • June 20 - June 22 (no camp on June 19): Paddle Sports Adventures
  • June 26 - June 29: Active Adventures 
  • July 11 - July 13: Glenwood Springs Campout
  • July 17 - July 20: Fun Around Town 
  • July 24 - July 27: Creative Arts 
  • August 1 - August 3: Denver Campout

Required Documents

  • Recreation Family Record: All participants must have a Recreation Family Record for 2022-2023 on file in order to participate in summer camps. The Family Record can be found in the Document Center.
  • Immunization Information: This information can be submitted as an attachment with your Recreation Family Record or via email to Ashley Steed (send e-mail). All immunization information must be on file in order to participate in summer camps.

Scholarship Application

The City of Steamboat Springs offers scholarships up to a maximum of 50% for youth program registrations to those who meet income eligibility guidelines. To learn more or to apply, fill out the application form online, which can be found in the Document Center. Please return this to Ashley Steed (send e-mail).

Therapeutic Recreation

The Adventure Bound Summer Camps have an inclusion program that addresses children with special needs in the least restrictive environment. Parents of such children are asked to call in advance to indicate your child’s specific needs and set up suitable programming and staffing. Please read through our Parent Handbook about specifics on participating through the inclusion program. Required paperwork is available in the Document Center.
