STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-January 13, 2023-The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) has promoted Patrol Officer Brian Arthur to Sergeant announced Commander Mark Beckett.
“I am thrilled to announce the promotion of Officer Brian Arthur to Sergeant!” commented Commander Beckett. “Brian is incredibly deserving of this achievement, and I know he will do a fantastic job for our department and the community in his new role.”
Sergeant Arthur grew up in Hawaii before moving to the Colorado Rocky Mountains and the Mile High City when he was 13. After a visit to Steamboat Springs in high school, he fell in love with the Yampa Valley and was hooked.
After putting himself through the Law Enforcement Academy, Arthur landed his dream job and started working for the SSPD in 2017. During his time with the department, he has served as a Field Training Officer and has had a hand in training every new officer since 2019. In an effort to further his instruction expertise, he became a certified firearms instructor in 2022.
Before moving to Steamboat Springs, he served six years in the Colorado Air National Guard Security Forces, stationed at Buckley Air Force Base. In addition, he worked for the Denver Sheriff’s Department for a year.
“I hope to continue to be a mentor for our young officers in my new role and a leader for our community,” said Sergeant Arthur.
Arthur’s promotion was effective earlier this week, Monday, Jan 9. Along with his fellow sergeants, he is responsible for providing oversight and supervision for patrol officers on his duty shift as well as department community engagement initiatives. He joins Sergeants Brown, Jenkins, Musgrave, Noble and Silva.
Arthur is married with an almost one-year-old daughter, who arrived a few months ahead of Father’s Day.
