49.5 tons of food waste DIVERTED TO PIGS since IRC’s start in December 2019!
That is 107,660 lbs. of CO2 emissions avoided by not landfilling organics. This is equivalent to the emissions from driving 128,180 miles in an American car!

Grant Funded Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic - The Routt County Humane Society (RCHS) Wellness Clinic will hosts its weekly spay/neuter clinic every Thursday throughout 2021 at 2645 Jacob Circle. Please call ahead of time to schedule your appointment. Discounted Services will be provided to income-qualified patrons. Verification of annual income of under $40,000 is required at the time of service. Low-cost spay/neuter services available to all.

Under the lights at the Brent Romick Arena, clouds of dirt and cries of victory tell the gripping story of the West with a time-honored and award-winning Steamboat tradition.
The Steamboat Pro Rodeo Series takes place every Friday and Saturday night with special performances July 1-4 in Downtown Steamboat Springs. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m except for the July 4 show which starts at 6:30 p.m. Pre-Rodeo entertainment appears on the entertainment stage from 6:00 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.

Free self-guided tour of local art galleries, museums and alternative venues in downtown Steamboat Springs.
These businesses remain open the first Friday of every month for this favorite event of locals and visitors alike. Many offer changing exhibits, so there is something new to see each month. Free to the public, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Refreshments are served.

The Honey Stinger Emerald Mountain Epic attracts some of the nation's best mountain bike and trail running racers, while still offering incredible opportunities for athletes of all skill levels to test their meddle. The race is a uniquely rewarding and challenging experience in that it is 90% singletrack with major elevation gains.
This is a charity event that challenges racers to compete at their personal best while promoting safety, fun, camaraderie and community. In addition to the in-person race, Emerald Mountain Epic will continue hosting a virtual fundraising ride/run event for athletes who want to support the non-profit beneficiaries but do not want to partake in the in-person race.

The Wild West Relay starts in the foothills of beautiful Fort Collins before sending runners deep into the heart of the Rocky Mountains. This scenic and remote course takes athletes over two mountain passes and through three national forests before reaching the finish line in the idyllic ski town of Steamboat Springs. Along the way you’ll pass picture perfect mountain communities, working ranches, and the jaw-dropping vistas that typify the American west. You’ll run on dirt roads and under starry skies and when you and your team cross the finish line at the Steamboat Springs ski resort, you’ll be rewarded with a cold beer and an even colder dip in the Yampa River that winds its way right through town.

The Main Street Steamboat Farmers Market is located along the scenic Yampa River Yampa Street between 6th and 8th Streets. Held on Saturdays from June 5 to September 18, the official hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. but if you are out riding your bike or getting in a quick run before the day’s events, you can usually pick up a cup of coffee, pastry or even a breakfast burrito before the crowds arrive.
The Farmers Market features fresh fruit and vegetables each week, as well as local meat, cheese, and baked goods. The market focuses on food and offers a wide variety of local and cottage industry products. You can pick up fresh bread and pies, local beef, bison, pork, and lamb as well as jams, syrups, and honey. It’s a great place to stop for lunch as well.

John D. Leshy is a Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Hastings College of Law, and was formerly solicitor of the Interior Department, counsel to the chair of the Natural Resources Committee, an attorney-advocate with the Natural Resources Defense Council and a litigator in the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division. Considering the political history of America’s 600 million acres of public lands, he’ll look at how Congress and the executive might respond to numerous challenges, especially those related to climate change and the ongoing decline in biodiversity.

A NEW free legal clinic for parties who have no attorney, will be featured from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM on the SECOND TUESDAY of each month through your local Routt County Libraries. As a COVID-19 work-around, these free legal clinics are being held by telephone for now. Instead of clinic patrons coming to your local public library (which has limited access), your local library staff will schedule all appointments.
Volunteer attorneys will assist each clinic patron individually by telephone during regular clinic hours, to answer questions and explain the process and procedure for all areas of civil litigation, including family law, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, small claims, veterans issues, and civil protection orders.

Celebrate the summer season with a night of food, drinks, live music, and an auction with an evening garden party above the Old Town Hot Springs pools. All funds raised at the event will go toward their capital campaign, It’s In the Water.

The Routt County Humane Society (RCHS) Wellness Clinic will host its monthly $15 vaccination clinic Saturday, August 14, from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM at the Mainstreet Steamboat Farmers Market (directly in front of Taco Cabo). No appointment needed. All pets should be on a leash and/or in carriers. If your pet does not do well in public places or around other animals, call the wellness clinic to schedule a FREE office visit to have your pet vaccinated, 970-457-8002. If you are sick, please stay home and either come to the next vaccination clinic or call the Wellness Clinic for an appointment when you are well.

Camille Busette, PhD is a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies and Director of the Race, Prosperity and Inclusion Initiative at the Brookings Institution. She has dedicated her career to expanding financial opportunities for low-income populations. Her work has centered primarily on systemic racism, the importance of social relationships to economic mobility and equity in healthcare. She also focuses on local and state government policy priorities. Prior to joining Brookings, Camille was an executive at the World Bank, where she led the World Bank’s financial inclusion innovation arm.
