Municipal Court
Through the authority of the Colorado State Statutes and the city home rule charter, the Steamboat Springs Municipal Court has jurisdiction over alleged misdemeanor municipal code and traffic violations within the city limits.
Certain charges require a court appearance, while others may be resolved by simply paying a fine. The Municipal Court is a court of record and court employees are not permitted to provide legal advice. However, they are happy to answer procedural questions.

- In-person cash payments (exact change only) can be made at the City Hall front desk (115 10th Street)
- Evidence and discovery about your case, as well as basic court procedural information, can be obtained by emailing Lynn Donaldson.
Judges are not allowed to discuss your court case on the phone. Submit your request in writing or call the court clerk's office to be added on to a court docket.
Online Payments

- By phone:

- In person:
- Push 2 on the phone in Centennial Hall lobby (124 10th Street)
- At the new City Hall Front Desk (115 10th Street)
- Cash is accepted at the front desk during business hours.
- Checks and credit cards are accepted via a self-service kiosk in the lobby at City Hall
- After hours: drop checks in the secure outside drop box
- By mail: Follow the instructions on the back of your ticket with a personal check or money order. Reference the ticket number on check and include a copy of ticket.
- Parking Challenges: File online at steamboatsprings.net/parkingchallenge or use the City Hall Self-service kiosk.

City Prosecutor
The Steamboat Springs Municipal Court Prosecutor is Kristi Doran. You will have the opportunity to speak with the prosecutor after you have been advised by the Judge at Court.
Phone appointments with the prosecutor are available for out of town defendants on your court date if you want to try to resolve your case without returning for court. Please contact the court at 970.871.8277.
Discovery Notice
There is evidence available in your case. This could include: a copy of your ticket with any officer notes, police reports, witness statements, photos, videos (body camera, dash camera, store surveillance), etc.
You have a right to:
- Receive a copy of the evidence;
- Review the evidence before paying your ticket or accepting an offer in your case; and
- Request a later court date for time to receive and review evidence.

Electronic Filing
The City of Steamboat Springs does not use Colorado Courts E-Filing. Attorneys may file by emailing Municipal Court and City Prosecutor Kristi Doran.
