[ARCHIVED] SSFR Big Red Sleigh Tour Returns To Local Neighborhoods

Santa 2022 NewsFlash

TRACK SANTA/SSFR: Steamboat Community! We are going to try live tracking this year.  We are utilizing the Life360 app to track Santa this year.  Each day Santa rides with SSFR there will be a different code so please check this page the day Santa is set to visit your neighborhood.

December 23: The “Circle” today is Santa 12/23 with the access code KAA-FTQ

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 13, 2022-Santa will again call upon Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue’s (SSFR) 525-horsepower Big Red Sleigh instead of Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen to share the holiday spirit and joy of the season with the Yampa Valley over seven days leading up to Christmas.

“We must be on the good list again as the fire station received a call from Santa Claus asking for assistance in sharing the holiday spirit with Steamboat Springs,” chimed Fire Chief Chuck Cerasoli. “Santa’s reindeer need to rest for the big day, so we’ll put our sleigh to use while he visits all the good boys and girls in the Yampa Valley.”

Over the seven days leading up to Christmas, Kris Kringle will visit a different neighborhood each evening atop the bright red tower fire truck. The tour is anticipated to start around 4:30pm and travel through the areas listed below. However, weather, road conditions and staff availability could affect the schedule. Check steamboatsprings.net/BigRedSleigh for information.

“We know it’s important to share the holiday spirit as a community and remind all of us to continue to be kind, compassionate and caring,” said Firefighter/Public Education Coordinator Julie Wernig. “A few of our firefighters need some extra holiday points to get on the good list and were eager to help Santa!”

Make the holiday spirit go further and a whole lot brighter by dropping off food or monetary donations at the Mountain Fire Station or Ambulance Barn downtown for LiftUp of Routt County. More than 2,600 people in Routt County go to bed hungry on a daily basis and SSFR is hoping to extinguish a little bit of that this holiday season
