Touch A Truck NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-August 7, 2023-Big rigs bring out the inner child in all of us and these vehicles will be on full display so that kids of all ages can see, touch, explore, and honk their way to a ton of fun during the inaugural Touch A Truck event on Thursday, August 10.

Touch A Truck Event Flyer (1)The Touch A Truck event brings numerous city departments including Parks & Recreation (P&R), Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) and Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue (SSFR), together with the Routt County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), Routt County Search & Rescue (RCSAR) and Classic Air Medical for a mega showcase of specialized equipment used in each organization’s line of work.

Kids will be able to get up-close to climb, explore and discover their favorite big truck & equipment during an interactive outdoor adventure for children (and adults). Not only will you be able to climb inside many of the vehicles and take a ton of photos, but the operators will also be on hand to answer questions and explain how each piece of equipment works to keep our community in motion.

The big rigs scheduled to be on location, weather permitting, include the signature red & white Classic Air Medical helicopter, a SSFR fire truck, SSPD patrol car & new Animal Control van, the RCSO’s K-9 vehicle and MARV (Mobile Armored Rescue Vehicle), RCSAR rescue truck, P&R Blue Whale (bus), law enforcement agencies’ combined emergency response team (CERT) unit and other equipment including a backhoe and a VENTRAC mower.

The Touch A Truck big rigs will be parked in the east end of the Rodeo Grounds parking lot closer to the Howelsen Ice Arena on Thursday, August 10, from 10am to noon. The event is free and open to all ages. Public parking will be available in the remaining rodeo ground parking areas. For additional information, see steamboatsprings.net/youthevents
