POSTER-2023 SBS FLY-IN NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 1, 2023-The pattern will be full, and you shouldn’t fly past this opportunity to check out the city owned and operated Steamboat Springs Airport Bob Adams Field (KSBS) when the facility hosts the 3rd Annual Fly-In & Appreciation Day in three weeks.

“Northwest Colorado has an aviation jewel in the Steamboat Springs Airport and a facility that plays a vital role in so many ways for our community,” said Airport Manager Stacie Fain. “The airport sees more than 12,000 diverse general aviation operations per year and this event gives everyone a chance to experience the airfield up close.”

Join us for all things aviation and celebrate the airport during the Regional & Vintage Aircraft Fly-In & Airport Appreciation Day on Sunday, September 17 from 7am to 3pm. The event is wheels up with an early morning, home-cooked breakfast from the Lions Club (proceeds benefit local non-profit) from 8-11am. The menu jets into the afternoon when spectators can enjoy lunch & ice cream from the Civil Air Patrol (proceeds benefit cadet scholarships).

Static displays and interactive booths are planned throughout the day. The flight simulator will showcase all it has to offer during a demonstration starting at noon. A special Pilot Wings Seminar by Nelson Wolfmeier, FAA Safety Team Program Manager for the NW Mountain Region, will share insights during a presentation at 1pm for pilots on Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT).

At 800 feet short of a mile in length, Runway 14/32 (4,452 ft) will be the setting for a family fun run on the actual aircraft pavement from 11 to 11:30am (free day of race registration). The Classic Air Medical helicopter, based at the airport, will be on display unless called away. The city is offering Jet A with prist and 100LL fuel specials for aircraft during the event.

Never been to the airfield? This is the ideal opportunity to check out the ramp, hangars, Fixed Based Operator (FBO) and get up close to many different types of aircraft that have come in for the day. While touring the facility, chat with pilots and airport staff, land yourself a special “I ♥ SBS” sticker or purchase signature KSBS merchandise. With limited public parking, the community is asked to consider biking to the festivities.
