STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO, December 6, 2023 – The Appointments Committee of Commissioners Tim Redmond, Sonja Macys and Tim Corrigan and City Council Members Dakotah McGinlay, Steve Muntean and Joella West met on Friday, December 1, 2023 to interview 18 applicants for the available seats on the Yampa Valley Housing Authority Board of Directors. The Appointments Committee met again on Tuesday, December 5 to discuss the final recommendation and the terms for each individual.
The Board of Directors govern and control all YVHA business affairs, activities, and property. The board consists of seven to 15 volunteers who must work or live within the YVHA service boundaries. Four of these seats are three-year terms, one is a two-year term and the last is a one-year term.
After three hours of interviews and additional discussion time, the committee voted to nominate the following individuals with the following terms:
- Alison Brodie (incumbent) – one-year term
- Catherine Carson (incumbent) – three-year term
- Cecilia Escobar – three-year term
- Reese Freeman (incumbent) – two-year term
- Kate Nowak – three-year term
- Leah Wood (incumbent) – three-year term
The committee will take these nominations back to the Board of County Commissioners and City Council on Tuesday, December 12 for final appointment. Once appointed, these individuals would join Michael Ann Marchand, Cole Hewitt, Roger Ashton, Jim Beers, Katherine Meyer, Patrick Phillips and Lou Tortora who currently serve on the Yampa Valley Housing Authority Board of Directors.
