SST Shuttle Service Offered For Memorial Day Tribute

City of Steamboat Springs NEWS Posted on May 19, 2026

Steamboat Springs, Colorado-May 19, 2026-As the community prepares to honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice this Memorial Day, Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) will continue its annual tradition of providing free transportation to the Memorial Day Ceremony at Steamboat Springs Cemetery.

Hosted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Steamboat Springs Memorial Day Ceremony honors those who gave their lives in service to the country.

The long-standing local ceremony includes opening remarks, a 21-gun salute, lowering of the flag to half-staff, and the playing of taps. In addition, Boy Scouts and Civil Air Patrol cadets will place American flags on the graves of veterans throughout the cemetery.

Due to limited parking at the cemetery, attendees are encouraged to use the FREE SST shuttle service, operating from the Stockbridge Transit Center, 1505 Lincoln Avenue, on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Buses will begin loading at 9:30 am, with the first departure to the cemetery at 9:45 am. Shuttles will run continuously until the final departure at 10:30 am.

Passengers will board in front of the Stockbridge Bus Depot and will be dropped off directly at the ceremony site. Following the ceremony, return shuttles will transport attendees back to Stockbridge Transit Center.

All buses are ADA accessible with wheelchair ramps and securements. Pets are not permitted onboard; however, service animals are allowed in accordance with ADA guidelines. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as the ceremony will begin promptly at 11 am.

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day was established in the years following the Civil War and became a federal holiday in 1971. Observed annually on the last Monday in May, the holiday serves as a time to remember and honor military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
