STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-January 5, 2026-The city is launching Civic Connections, a new ongoing community conversation series designed to bring residents, businesses, and industry professionals together for clear, accessible discussions about topics shaping the community.
The first event in the series, Understanding Short-Term Rentals, will take place on Thursday, January 22 at Combined Law Enforcement Facility (2027 Shield Dr). This individual session is co‑sponsored by Altitude Realtors® and is also part of their popular Pizza and Politics program. To kick things off, attendees will enjoy a free pizza lunch starting at 12:30pm, followed by a fast‑paced, highly informative presentation beginning promptly at 1pm.
Short‑Term Rentals Session Focus:
Short‑term rentals remain one of the most frequently discussed topics in Steamboat Springs. This session is designed to provide a broad, educational overview of how STRs function within the city and will cover:
- STR Code and Overlay Zone
- Licensing Requirements
- Application Types, Processes, and Requirements
- Operational Standards
- Renewal Procedures
- Consequences for Noncompliance
- Open Q&A
This session is geared toward realtors and property managers, though STR license holders and the general public are welcome. This presentation is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. This is not an appropriate forum to debate policy, nor will any individual cases, enforcement, or grievances be discussed.
New Way to Connect With the City
This STR session is just the beginning. In February, the city will debut the next installment of the Civic Connections series: “How Planning Works” — a deeper look at planning, development, and the systems that keep Steamboat Springs running. Each upcoming event will offer residents a chance to learn, ask questions, and engage directly with the city team. More details on the February event will be announced soon.
The Civic Connections series is designed to foster transparency, improve public understanding of complex topics, and create accessible opportunities for residents and professionals to engage with city departments.
