[ARCHIVED] Nearly 60 Establishments Recognized Through Legacy Business Program

Legacy Businesses List NewsFlash

Steamboat Springs, Colorado-March 4, 2026-In partnership with Main Street Steamboat Springs, the City of Steamboat Springs is proud to announce that nearly 60 local establishments have officially met the criteria and been recognized through the Steamboat Springs Legacy Business Program.

“Legacy businesses are more than places of commerce — they are pillars of our community,” said Historic Preservation Planner Caitlin Berube-Smith. “These 57 establishments reflect the entrepreneurial spirit, resilience, and hometown pride that make Steamboat Springs so special.”

The Legacy Business Program honors long-standing businesses that have demonstrated exceptional longevity, cultural significance, and meaningful community impact. These establishments represent decades of dedication, helping shape the character, continuity, and small-town spirit that define Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley.

Legacy Businesses span a diverse cross-section of the local economy — from restaurants and retailers to service providers and community gathering spaces. What unites them is their enduring commitment to serving residents and visitors alike, often across multiple generations. Their storefronts, stories, and traditions are woven into the fabric of the community, creating a sense of belonging and shared history.

“Steamboat Springs has achieved a level of community heritage that many cities never experience,” commented Mainstreet Steamboat Springs Lisa Popovich. “These businesses are the backbone of our town’s identity and charm, and we hope other legacy businesses will join the program.”

Businesses recognized through the program will be featured in Main Street Steamboat’s Legacy Business directory, highlighted through storytelling initiatives, and included in future heritage-focused events and promotions. Each recognized business receives official designation materials and branding to showcase their achievement.

The Legacy Business Program reinforces a shared commitment to preserving Steamboat Springs’ unique identity while supporting the long-term vitality of its historic commercial core. If your business is 25 years or older, apply to the Legacy Business Program, or contact Main Street Steamboat Springs for additional information.
