Sunset Vertical and End-of-Season Celebration

Race Overview

  • Location: Steamboat Resort - Torian Plum Plaza (1855 Ski Time Square Drive, Steamboat Springs, CO)
  • This race will be an uphill format race with a climb on the upper mountain ski runs. 
  • All divisions will be racing to the top of Thunderhead and all entrants will either ski back down or download on the gondola post finish for the end-of-season celebration at Los Locos. 
  • Prior to competing in this race, please review the Official Race Rules and list of Required Equipment

Race Registration

  • Registration for the Sunset Vertical will open on Monday, March 13 at 8:00 AM. 
  • Online registration will be available until Wednesday, March 25 at 8:00 AM. 
  • We highly encourage all racers to register in advance, but if you miss the online registration deadline, race day registration will be available from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM at Torian Plum Plaza.
  • When you check in at the race, you will receive your bib/number, safety pins, etc. If you purchased a Season Pass, you will still need to check in at each race to receive a new bib and number.

Pre-Race Meeting

  • 5:50 PM next to the registration tent/table at the Torian Plum Plaza base area.

  • 6:10 PM - Mass Start (All Divisions)

Course Map and Description

Courses are subject to change based on snow conditions, trail closures, etc. Any changes will be communicated prior to each race via email, online and at the pre-race meeting. 

Indoor Space and Bathrooms

  • Racers will have access to the public bathrooms inside Torian Plum Plaza, but please come dressed and ready to race. 

End-of-Season Party and Awards Ceremony

  • Once you have completed your race, we hope that you will join us at Los Locos for a fun end-of-season celebration and awards ceremony.
  • Food and drink discounts will be provided along with awards and giveaways from our Ski Ascent Series partners.

Steamboat Resort Mandatory Waivers

  • As a reminder, all participants planning to race at Steamboat Resort must complete the IKON Winter Waiver and Uphill Access Agreement prior to the first race at Mt. Werner. You will also need to purchase your annual Uphill Acess Pass. 
  • When filling out these waivers online, please use the same name that you have listed on your IKON, Steamboat, or Alterra MOuntain Company pass (if you have a pass). This helps us to easily cross check our registered participants against Steamboat Resort's list of signed waivers. 
  • If you are unable to fill out the waivers online, you will be required to fill them out when you arrive at each of the Mt. Werner races. Please allow yourself a little extra time to check in as the waiver signing process does create a bit of a bottleneck at the check-in table.
